For 98% of people the Louvre is a place where they can remember about five works of art (Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, Nike of bSamothrace/b, Virgin of the Rocks, and take your pick for the fifth), buy some kitschy memorabilia, tell themselves that they want to learn more about art ... That's something you can do just as well at home, and being able to say you've seen the Mona Lisa or whatever isn't sufficient reward for having paid thousands of dollars to do it on bvacation/b. ...
